Saturday 23rd March, 2019 7pm St John Passion, De Montfort Hall, Leicester

For this year's Malcolm Sargent concert (a triennial event we hold with Stamford Endowed Schools) we will perform Bach's dramatic, fast-paced and concise re-telling of the passion story. Period orchestral accompaniment will be provided by the Musical and Amicable Society, we have a line up of six exciting professional soloists with Nathan Vale taking the role of the Evangelist (narrator) and a chorus, representing various crowds and groups in the narrative, numbering over 200. In a first for this event, we will be performing in the fabulous surroundings of the De Montfort Hall in Leicester which will ensure a fabulous acoustic and visual experience for everyone involved, both performers and audience. It promises to be an amazing event, well worth the trip! Tickets via the De Montfort Hall Box Office.

Forthcoming

150 years ago in 1869, Stamford Choral Society performed it's first concert, Hanel's "Messiah". This Christmas we will be performing this iconic piece to celebrate that anniversay.

Rehearsals for the Auntumn Term start on 3rd September at Stamford Methodist Church, Barn Hill, Stamford. We will be preparing Handel's Messiah for our next concert. New singers are always welcome in the opening weeks of each term, so please do come along, if you're interested in singing with us or email at stamfordchoral@gmail for further information.
